Families who experience a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease are often left feeling hopeless.  Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s is a nonprofit organization dedicated to help all people affected by Parkinson’s Disease live a life of wellness.  Incorporated in Sarasota in 2008, Neuro Challenge offers free desperately needed support, community resource referrals, and education and wellness programs for patients and their caregivers.

With increasing demand for their services in the North Port area, Neuro Challenge for Parkinson’s filed a grant application to the neuro pic 1
Heron Creek Community Foundationin 2013. The Foundation awarded them a grant for $2500 to establish a new office in North Port at 5600 Peace River Road.  Over 200 patient families emerged in the first 6 months seeking their services.  In 2014 with a second grant of $2000, Neuro Challenge was able to add three additional education and support groups to their monthly calendar in North Port.  Impressed by their services and commitment to the community, the HC board approved a $2500 grant in 2016.  This grant will enable Neuro Challenge to provide two additional North Port groups per
month and support more one-on-one care advising hours to patients and caregivers.

Neuro Challenge for Parkinson’s impact reaches far beyond Sarasota County.  They are responsible for conducting the Annual Parkinson’s Symposium, the largest state-wide Parkinson’s event for patients, caregivers and healthcare providers.  This event sells out annually with over 550 attendees.  This year the symposium will be provided at no charge to attendees.  They also publish the Parkinson Disease Resource Guide, an up-to-date resource providing guidance to effective management and support for those with Parkinson's disease. Over 5,000 resource guides have been distributed since September 2015.
