Through the generosity of its members, volunteers and great support from local businesses and attendees at fund raising activities, HCCF was able to contact SPARCC and award a grant to fund a new location in the heart of North Port.   As a result, hundreds of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assualt have been afforded a safe place and counseling.
sparcc client getting help In 2012 HCCF had a unique opportunity, and took it.  Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, located in Sarasota, has been
free confidential services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assualt. We have continued through 2020 to pay for the space and expenses to keep the North Port office.
Formed in 1979, SPARCC is the only state-certified center for domestic violence and sexual assualt services for Sarasota County. In addition to serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence, SPARCC is actively engaged in promoting social change through community awareness and education in an effort to prevent violence in the future.  While SPARCC has served its clients through an Outreach Center in downtown Sarasota and satellite offices in Venice and DeSoto County, there was no office in North Port to serve its some 40 thousand residents until HCCF came to the rescue.
