On Wednesday November 4, the Heron Creek Community Foundation held its sixth annual Wine Tasting Gala as a kick-off of our 2015-2016 season of fund-raising events.  Some 130 attendees helped the Foundation raise over $4,500 to help fund grants for charities helping North Port citizens in need.   To date, the Wine Tasting event has raised over $30,000 toward that goal.
“I thank the HCCF members, guests and Heron Creek residents”, said event chair Laurie Huebner.  “Their continued support, volunteerism and willingness to give back is beneficial to everyone here in North Port.”
Heron Creek’s Chef Butch Thigpen prepared a host of tasty hors d’oeuvres to supplement the wine sampling from six stations set up in the Main Dining Room.  Chantel Kulac of Constellation Brands Distributors and Jeffrey Ellis of Southern Wine & Spirits of North FL, supplied the wines for the Gala and sale.   Gus Arredondo, Heron Creek CC Food & Beverage Director, assisted in the wine selections.  Together they selected 28 wines from 5 different countries including the US.
One highlight was the raffle of a floral painting donated by Dr. Eleanor Lewis.  She and her husband Sherman, long-time Foundation members, were present at the drawing won by Joe Strosnik.  The painting raffle raised $1,200.  HCCF is very grateful for such a generous display of support from the Eleanor and Sherm.
The 50-50 drawing was won by Ron & Mary Bowersock, who immediately donated the winnings back to the Foundation.  Thank you so much for such commitment to the HCCF mission of assisting North Port's needy.

The next event is the annual golf tournament which will be held on Saturday January 9.  Don't delay signing up as we expect a big crowd.
