wine bottlesOn Wednesday November 2, the Heron Creek Community Foundation held its seventh annual Wine Tasting as a kick-off to the 2016-2017 season of fund-raising events.  Some 120 attendees helped the Foundation raise over $6,000 to help fund grants for charities helping North Port citizens in need.   Read more below

The Wine Tasting raises money in three ways – an additional $10 is added to each registration fee; the raffles; and, the sales of the wines, beers and cognacs are priced at cost with a small markup. To date, the Wine Tasting event has raised close to $37,000 toward that goal.

“I thank the HCCF members, guests and Heron Creek residents”, said event chair Laurie Huebner.  “Over 40 residents and members volunteered to help make this event a success. Your continued support, generosity of time and money, volunteerism and willingness to create positive change in our community is beneficial to everyone here in North Port.”

This year’s theme was “harvest festival”, and as such, the food selection reflected an autumn theme. In addition to over 20 wines for tasting, this year we also tasted local craft beer and some wonderful ports and cognacs. Special thanks to HCCC staff as they did an outstanding job supporting the event, from the event planning, food quality and service, selection of tasting wines, beers & cognacs, registration, etc. Jeffrey Ellis of Southern Wine & Spirits of North FL, supplied the beverages and has proven to be a great partner to the foundation.

This year, with the generosity of many members, we held a raffle and a silent auction, both of which were extremely successful.  HCCF is very grateful for such a generous display of support from many different members, both those who donated the items and those who purchased raffle tickets and had great fun with the silent auction.

The next event is the annual golf tournament which will be held on Saturday January 7.  Don't delay signing up as we expect a big crowd
