canned foodsThe HCCF Annual Food Drive was held between November 6 and 11.  It was a great success, loading a truck with many pounds of donated food items.  In addition, cash donations from the Heron Creek community in the amount of $2,325 were provided to All Faiths Food Bank.  With Hurricane Irma and the related flooding in North Port creating such havoc, there is a great need to restock food pantry shelves and assist North Port students have healthy meals.  The Community Services Committee will be conducting our annual drive during the the same period each year.  More details on the 2017 drive are below.

                    2017 HCCF FOOD DRIVE
                November 6th – November 12th

Once again, your neighbors on the HCCF (Heron Creek Community Foundation) Community Service Committee are asking you to open your hearts and pantries to help feed homeless and needy families of North Port. This year we are again excited to be partnering with All Faiths Food Bank. This partnership allows us to broaden our reach to the neediest members of our community by servicing both North Port Schools and mobile food pantries in our city. In addition, AFFB has the ability to triple the value of our monetary contributions through their purchasing network.
The HCCF food drive will take place November 6th through November 12th.  The most needed items this year are peanut butter and jelly; canned tuna, chicken or salmon; rice; beans of any kind; and shelf stable milk. Other welcome items are packaged or canned fruit or 100% fruit drinks (look for pull tabs); canned veggies (pull tabs); cereal, pasta and granola bars; shelf stable canned meat snacks; and soups or stew (pull tabs). Try to buy items with no added salt or sugar. Please no glass, damaged, out of date or open containers.

If you can help out, please bring your donated items in bags or boxes to your neighborhood volunteer listed below. We invite you to leave your donation at their front door during the week of the drive. If you prefer to make a monetary contribution, make out a check payable to HCCF and give it to your neighborhood volunteer or mail it to Kathy Lane, 4000 Whispering Oaks Dr., 34287.

Thank you for your continuing generosity and caring hearts!
