The Heron Creek Community Foundation proudly announces that it has grants 2 pic standardcompleted its 2018 Grant Cycle by awarding 24 Grants for a total of $61,036.  This brings the total amount awarded in its 8 years of existence to $303,661, all of which is restricted to helping those in North Port.  The 2018 awards included 8 new organizations so it has now supported 34 organizations serving North Port citizens.

Shoes, clothing and a meeting place for North Port foster children


Child Protection Center

Therapy sessions for North Port children who suffer as a result of sexual or physical abuse


Meals on Wheels

Expansion of operations and over 1400 meals


Habitat for Humanity

Help complete 6 new North Port homes


Forty Carrots Family Center

Provide parenting classes for pregnant and parenting teen parents


Mental Health Community Center

Fund North Port drop-in center for clients with severe mental illness


Family Promise

Funding its “Open Door” program providing emergency short-term housing for North Port families with children


Teen Court

Funding its D-FY (Drug Free) program in North Port middle and High schools


Education Foundation

Help establish a new “Career Center” in North Port High School assisting students with college, career and life-readiness


Coastal Behavioral Healthcare

Funding case management and one-on-one therapy for adults and children with mental health and substance abuse disorders



Funding the “Schoolhouse Link” program providing broad assistance to homeless North Port students


Children’s Guardian Fund

Assist guardian ad litems volunteers for North Port children pay for incidentals to provide some normalcy in childrens’ lives


Literacy Volunteers

Purchase a high-speed printer and toner for printing workbooks and materials


SOLVE Maternity Homes

Partially fund purchase of a van for transportation of clients to physician appointments and education


Big Brothers Big Sisters

Funding the “Gateway to Graduation” program for North Port youth


Neuro Challenge

Support individualized care for North Port residents with Parkinson’s Disease



Fund the Rape Crisis Center’s North Port location so it is immediately available to residents


Boys & Girls Club

Fund its SMART (Skills Mastery & Resistance Training) program in the North Port facility


Good Samaritan Pharmacy and Health Services

Medications and healthcare to uninsured and under-insured North Port residents


Pregnancy Solutions

Stock its boutique with diapers and wipes for pregnant mothers in North Port.


Take Stock in Children

Fund HCCF’s fifth full four-year college scholarship for a North Port youth to break the cycle of poverty


CHAPS HIV/AIDS Support Center

Providing fresh fruit, vegetables and hygiene products for North Port HIV/AIDS patients


Salvation Army

Purchase food to stock its North Port food bank
