The meeting was called to order by Joe O’Connor at 10:00 a.m. and a quorum was declared.

PRESENT:  Joe O’Connor, Pete Cunningham, Nick Cippola, Bill Bach, Roy Munnelly, Mary Bowersock, Dave Sobecki, Bill Bay, Deanne Siddall

Minutes of the May Meeting were approved .

FINANCIAL REPORT

Pete reported the following  balances:
Admin and Holding:  $8,110
Gulf Coast Endowment: $509.994
Pete indicated that there was little activity in the accounts and that the market continues down.

MEMBERSHIP

Joe reports that this is a quiet period for membership. There are no new members although he is staying in contact.  He suggests another Meet and Greet around the time of the golf tournament.

GRANTS

The revised application for grants submitted by Kristen Munnelly was unanimously approved.  Changes on the application need to be sent to Al Dolben to update the website.

Bill Bach and Nick reported on a site visit to Good Samaritan.  It consists of a health clinic and pharmacy.   The pharmacy gets medicine wholesale but no controlled substances.  The pharmacy also works with applicants who get free or discounted medicine. Good Sam serves 50 people out of North Port (mostly middle age and elder population) and there are about 50 people on staff.  They have only two part time paid employees (doctors) the rest are volunteers.  Each recipient costs about $400 from start to finish.  Impressive organization but with limited funds.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

Roy reported that he and Bill Bach will be meeting with Bart on June 16th.  They are asking Joe Strosnik to help as a senior advisor.  They hope to discuss the format, cost of food and beverage, number of players, volunteers to help, and emphasize a shotgun format.  The committee’s goal is to improve transparency and they are looking for everyone to be on board for getting sponsors.

MISC. UPDATES (501(c)3)

Nick brought us up to date on his research of 501(c) 3.  We can use a 1023 form for a quicker response.  Nick can provide us with an ID # using legal zoom.  It will take 2-3 months to complete.  We will need to fill out a 990 tax form for profits on a yearly basis.  Pete suggested that we start the process now, but let them know it will be starting after Jan. 1, 2023.  Unanimous vote to start now.  We will not submit anything yet.  We will keep everything the same for now.  We will need to contact Gulf Coast and update them on our progress on the 501(c).

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

The foundation will need to replace four directors at the end of the year.  These are Holly, Bill Bach, Joe, and Pete.  Dave suggested the name of Sharon Matthews as one possible replacement.  Interested candidate names should be given to Mary.

Joe made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:50.
